| First, I cannot comment on the mail order service of Halalco because I have never used it. What I can tell you is that in the metro DC area Halalco has a very good reputation. Halalco has been around for seemingly forever and it has become a sort of one-stop-shop for area Muslims. As the name suggests, Halalco sells HALAL products; this means you can purchase meat (and other products) that you know are certified halal. The chicken and lamb are of particularly high quality and you would actually be hard pressed to find another grocery store, Muslim or non Muslim, that sells such delicious, high quality meat. The aisles are jammed with a variety of products and although the clientele is mainly Muslim, the product selection suggests that many non Muslims including Hindus and "regular" Americans feel welcome enough to browse the selection of exotic spices and Korma mixes. The book selection is huge and has titles covering every aspect of Islam from every perspective (Shia, mainstream, radical, etc). I find this variety refreshing. The customer service has always been about on par with what you find at any grocery store so I don’t have too many complaints. Overall a great place to shop. |

Since there were no reports on these projects I contacted them recently about what they have done with funds collected for Gaza and Africa appeal. For one thing she overprices everything! $3 for an individual pack of Skittles? Are you kidding me? Good thing they are Halal in the states now!
She rarely responds to emails, and if she does it takes a week. She never gets back to me if a refund is in store. I have no choice but to order from her because some of her products are not readily available where I live but it's such a headache. I email her 10 times before I hear back from her. Customer service gets an F.
Whenever something is out of stock they add what THEY want to the order, and why would I pay to send it back again. I hate that. You can't replace it with what you want! It's not a gift, this is a business order.
And as others said, her shipping mysteriously takes months. I order from places overseas and pay less for shipping and get my item 2-3 weeks after, but my order from her took up to 10 weeks once.
If you ask me there is something not right with this business and I advice others who want to avoid problems to not order from them!!! |

Salaam Alaykum Wa Rahmatullah Hi Wa Barakatu This was my third time (in 2007) to Hajj (alhamdolillah) but first time with family and first time with Barakah. No words to describe, the most disappointing experience. Right from landing in Madinah to arrival in Chicago - no proper coordination, mismanagement, not attending to Hujjaj grievances, arrogant, impatient, incompetent, inexperienced, unsympathetic, insensitive, materialistic, offensive and insulting Hujjaj (Mr. doctor's common words ... Don't make me repeat the same thing over and over again, don't make me angry otherwise I will insult you (not verbatim). Hence, I was scared asking him anything because he would literary insult. On the contrary, I give full marks and many thanks (Jazakumullah Khayran) to the Hujjaj who accompanied us during this pilgrimage and this appreciation extends to the wife of Mr. Doctor (organizer). They were very helpful and compassionate throughout the journey. At some point in time, some of the brothers (Hujjaj) took over the task/ responsibility of Mr. Doctor and helped others out. bismillah hi rahman rahim All praise and thanks are due to allah the greatest and most mericiful for allowing me to be able to perform my pilgrimage to makkah and to visit the prophet in his city madina. The question asked me to provide a brief review of the services that Sara international Travel (my hajj trip facilitator) gave me. May allah have mercy on me if any thing i say is wrong or not correct. So my trip began in JFk where hamdulilah the flight was on time and the meals were actually halal so that was pretty amazing for me. We go into jeddah and the immigration (which i read online could take up to 12 hours) only took about 3 hours then we got on our busses for Makkah. Getting into the bus took about an hour because some people didnt listen but its ok. We got into makkah and boy! the hotel was amazing - i cant remember the name right now but its the tallest building there. So keys were given about an hour later and we proceeded. I took the 2 in a room package so i had another room mate. The rooms were amazing and the beds were queen size beds. Umrah was usual and the rest of the stay was usual. Food in makkah was unbelievable! soo many things to choose from in makkah. the hardest part was choosing what not to eat!! We then went to madina and the hotel name i cant remember so anyway - the hotel wasnt as great as in makkah but still very good. It was about 4 star plus i guess. the food was good and the rooms were clean and pretty good. Nothing to complain about here. The ziyareh in both makkah and madinah were simply put amazing and very understandable. One thing i advise is to memmorize your pilgrim id number becuase i lost mine and it was tough to get it back. We came back to azaziyah and were there for 2 days. In this we had two hajj seminars again and besically went through what and what not to do for the hajj. We got to see all the group leaders together and they all gave a speech. We went to mina 1am in the morning and basically mina was uneventful. We did group ziker and read quran. I really enjoyed my self on arafah when the imam gave perhaps the greatest dua of my life. muzdaliafia was an experience to remeber for ever! subhannalah. in general its hard to rate any hajj company but i give sara 5/5 becuase they fulfilled my needs and requirments from what i expected.

Despite the beautiful photographs and enthusiastic testimonials on their website, ordering with Renuka Silks has been a nightmare! I ordered an abaya and sent my measurements and payment through their online system. They never received my size form, so I resent it via emails, online chats, online forms and voice mails. After three months of waiting, I canceled my order. Now despite written promises for a refund, I haven't yet received one. Even though many phone numbers are listed on the website, no one answers the phone. Shame on you, Renuka Silks, for your poor customer service! |

We do our best to sell our things at the highest quality and the lowest prices possible. If there are ever any items that are not 100% we give a 100% refund always! We care about our quality and work hard to make sure that it is the best. I check everything personally, but things do get past sometimes unintentionally.
We do our best to give you your items on time, and sometimes this isn't possible because of items not available in the market. (That is because some of the items we offer are few of a kind, and when they are gone they are gone). Also, we are not in control of the US post, and we do state clearly on our site that things will take from 6 to 8 weeks, unless the person asks us to expedite their order, which we are also happy to try to do. | Nothing to be confused about. Yes, they do sell a selection of pop-up cards of the California Missions. However, there are also many items not on the website currently - More Persian and Islamic buildings, Indian buildings, Islamic calligraphy cards, snowflakes, Buildings of Venice, etc. Custom work can be ordered as well. This company does business with University of Chicago, Harvard, Metropolitan Museum of Art, and many other private companies as well. Currently published is a commemorative book on the Arg-e Bam that was destroyed by earthquake in 2003. Coming in 2006, 2 volumes on the California Missions, Ancient Persia, and 2 volumes on historical and Islamic buildings in Isfahan, Iran. In the planning stages are books on historical structures from India, and Venice. |

| I have ordered again several weeks back and she still has not billed me for the items, let alone sent them. I even signed her guestbook to take advatange of her current special offer but by the time she bills me it may have expired! Another friend has recently had problems where they sent payment and it took six months for the sister to realise she had got it and send the items. Despite thinking I would not order again; I have done twice as they sell items you can't get elsewhere; with fairly good results so I thought the service had improved. The only problem I have is if she cannot get an item she makes substitutions and often the substitutions are poor; ie niqabs and scarves with embroidery when you wanted plain; too small kids al-ameerahs with lace when you ordered the plain adults ones; or she just never sends that item at all. My best friend ordered a good six months ago and asked for six pairs of the black cotton gloves; she kept saying she could not get hold of that many but she would eventually; however they have never been sent nor has my friend been refunded that money. I have been told by a sister very famililar with the company that what they do is put a photo of a generic item on the site; and actually go to buy the majority of the items from the bazaar when an order is placed; it explains the very low prices on some items but also the poor substitutions and variation in quality at times. I am still waiting for the bill for this order; if they didn't sell the Arabic kids books so cheap (even in Saudi they are more expensive than she sells them for) and rare items for the household and good niqabs I'd give this site a wide berth. |
