Beaded Evening Bag, Carnival Glass, Hinged Frame, Dance Purse, Vintage

This fabulous wristlet dance purse is a rare find. It has a hinged opening that snaps open for easy access to the inside, and it sits solidly on its hard bottom. I have never seen another hinged-framed box purse like this before. It is quite unique. The handbag features an all-over design of smoky gray/black, gunmetal colored, iridescent carnival glass micro beads on the exterior. It has a hard bottom, so it sits flat, adding to its usability. The lovely beaded strap makes it completely functional as an otherwise stylish evening bag. It is fully lined inside with satiny black lining. It comes with its coordinating black satin coin purse, with hinged opening and kissing clasps, that was original to the handbag. The handbag will hold your keys, cash, cards, lipstick, etc., and a cell phone if it is not one of the larger ones. It sparkles in the light with iridescence and will add dazzle and style to any outfit. There is no designer logo inside the purse, but it is a quality made handbag. I purchased this purse as part of an estate from a woman who owned an antique store and was a collector of vintage jewelry, purses, collectibles and artwork for her entire life. Many of the items were NOS (new, old stock), or were rarely, if ever worn. This appears to be one of those items. I believe it was made in the 1940s. Approximate measurements: • Height: 6 inches (to top of hinged opening) • Height: 4 ½ inches (to bottom of hinged opening) • Width: 7 ¼ inches (top, at hinge) • Diameter across circle at bottom of purse: 4 inches • Total length of strap: 14 inches (from end to end) • Strap drop: 5 ½ inches CONDITION: This handbag is in very good vintage condition. The beadwork remains lovely and there are no rips on the outside of the purse. The hinged metal frame remains in excellent working condition. The strap looks beautiful. The interior lining has no rips or tears, and only shows minor use, consistent with the age of the purse, just at the top of one side of the hinged area. This is a vintage item, and has been gently used. I have done my best to describe it, but it is possible that a small defect could have escaped my notice.
