These exquisite earrings were created by the designer, CORO, as part of the PEGASUS collection. I believe, after doing some research, that they were designed by Adolph Katz. They are screw-back earrings, and feature an elegant, lovely, layered design of cobalt blue enameled metal, encircled with tiny gold balls, embellished with a flower design crafted with faux pearls, accented with gold balls, with a faceted, prong-set clear rhinestone in the center. They are well made and are of quality craftsmanship. They are double signed, with the screw-back mechanisms signed CORO, as well as the backs of both earrings inscribed with the maker’s mark: CORO and the Pegasus Coro logo. I purchased these earrings as part of an estate from a woman who owned an antique store and was a collector of vintage jewelry, purses and artwork for her entire life. Many of the items were NOS (new, old stock), or very seldom, if ever, worn. These earrings appear to be one of these treasures. This maker’s mark is from 1945. Approximate measurements: • Diameter: 7/8 inch • Depth: 3/8 inch INFORMATION ABOUT CORO: The company was founded in 1901 by Emanuel Cohn and Carl Rosenberger. They opened a small accessories store on Broadway in New York City. In 1943 the name “CORO” became the name of the corporation, which is a contraction of the first two letters of each partner's last names. Cohn and Rosenberger did not design their jewelry, but possibly had ideas of what they envisioned, and instead they found professional jewelry designers to design it. Initially, Cohn & Rosenberger was a sales organization, and later they acquired manufacturing facilities. CONDITION: Excellent vintage condition; no issues to note and they appear to have been rarely, if ever, worn. The rhinestones remain shiny and sparkling and the pearls are luminous and lovely. The enameled surfaces remain unmarred, and the gold tone metal is shiny and lovely. The screw-backs are fully functioning. These are vintage items, and have been gently used. I have done my best to describe them, but it is possible that a small defect could have escaped my notice.
