Mustafa Halim Özyazıcı (1898 – 1964), widely known as Halim Efendi, was one of the greatest classical Ottoman calligraphers.
He wrote a number of exercise books for his students. This book contains the mashq (copy books) written for his student Prof Dr Ali Alparslan.
It is one of the few books still highly regarded as go-to book for learning Arabic calligraphy even by contemporary Arabic calligraphy masters.
The book introduction is written in Turkish and is followed by mashq (letters in isolation, letter combinations and other examples in correct size and proportions) in these scripts: naskh, thuluth, ruq’a, diwani and diwani jali.
