Original Handmade Islamic Art Calligraphy Wall Art Handmade Original Islamic Gift Decor Arabic Calligraphy Hand Painting Islamic Art Wall Art Wall Décor Four Quls A4 050021 Surah Ikhlas, An-Nas, Falaq and Kafiroun are commonly referred together the four Quls as they begin with the word Qul. These 4 surahs are between 4-6 ayats (lines) long, and among the shortest surahs in the entire Quran and relatively easy to memorize. Below are the transliteration and English translation of the Quls: Chapter 112 – Surat Al-Ikhlas ( The Purity ) ”Bismillahir-Rahmanir-Raheem Qul Huwa-llahu ‘Ahad Allahus-Samad Lam Yalid Wa Lam Yulad Walam Yakul-La-Hu-Kufuwan ‘Ahad “ “ Say: He is Allah,(the) One, Allahus-Samad ( The Self-Sufficient Master, Whom all creatures need, He neither eats nor drinks ). He begets not, nor was He begotten; And there is none co-equal or comparable unto Him.” Chapter 114 – Surah An-Nas (Mankind) ”Bismillahir-Rahmanir-Raheem Qul ‘A’udhu Bi-Rabbin-Nas Malikin-Nas Ilahin-Nas Min-Sharril-Waswasil-Khan-Nas Al-Ladhi Yuwas-wisu Fee Sudurin-Nas Mina Al-Jinnati Wan-Nas “ “ Say: I seek refuge with (Allah ) the lord of mankind, The King of mankind, The Ilah ( God ) of mankind, From the evil of the whisperer ( devil who whispers evil in the hearts of men) , who withdraws ( from his whispering in one’s heart after one remembers Allah ), Who whispers in the breasts of mankind , Of jinns and men.” Chapter 113 – Surah Al-Falaq (Dawn) ” Bismillahir-Rahmanir-Raheem Qul ‘A’udhu Bi-Rabbil-Falaq Min Sharri Ma Khalaq Wa Min Sharri Ghasiqin ‘Idha Waqab Wa Min Sharri-Naffathati Fil-‘Uqadi Wa Min Sharri Hasidin ‘Idha Hasad “ ” Say : I seek refuge with ( Allah ) the Lord of the daybreak, From the evil of what He has created; And from the evil of the darkening ( night ) as it comes with its darkness; ( or the moon as it sets or goes away ). And from the evil of the witchcrafts when they blow in the knots, And from the evil of the envier when he envies. “ Chapter 109 – Surah Al-Kafiroun (The Unbeliever) ” Bismillahir-Rahmanir-Raheem Qul ya ayyuhal-Kafiroun La ‘a-budu ma ta’-bu-doun Wa la antum ‘abidouna ma ‘a-bud Wa la ana ‘abidum-ma ‘abadttum Wa la antum ‘abiduna ma ‘a-bud Lakum deenukum wa li-ya deen “ “ Say: O Al-Kafiroun ( disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, in His Angels, in His Books, in His Messengers, in the Day of Resurrection, and in Al-Qadar, etc )! I worship not that which you worship, Nor will you worship that which I worship. And I shall not worship that which you are worshipping. Nor will you worship that which I worship. To you be your religion and to me my religion (Islamic Monotheism). “ The rewards of reciting the four Quls The Messenger of Allah – SallAllahu alayhi wa sallam – said: “O Ibn Aabis, shall I tell you about the best protection used by those who seek it.” He said: Yes, O Messenger of Allah. He (PBUH) said: “Say, I seek refuge in the Lord of the daybreak.” and ‘Say, I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind.’ It is included in these two surahs.” [Abu Dawood] Aisha (RA) reported that whenever the Prophet – SallAllahu alayhi wa sallam – went to bed every night, he used to cup his hands together and blow over them after reciting surah Al-Ikhlas, Surah Al-Falaq and Surah An-Nas and then rub his hands over whatever parts of his body he was able to rub, starting with his head, face and front of his body. He used to do that three times. [Bukhari] Al-Bukhaari (6643) narrated from Abu Sa’eed that a man heard another man reciting Qul Huwa Allaahu Ahad and repeating it. The next morning he came to the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and told him about that. The man thought that it was too little, but the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “By the One in Whose hand is my soul, it is equivalent to one-third of the Quran.” Whoever recites these three Surahs three times in the morning and in the evening, they will suffice him against everything. [Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi] Surah Al-Ikhlas Muadh bin Anas (May Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, “Whoever recites (Qul Hu Allahu Ahad) ten times, Allah will build for him a house in Paradise.” Its recitation is compared to reciting a third of the Holy Quran. It is narrated from the Holy Prophet (PBUH) that whoever recites this Surah once will get the reward equal to ten times the number of people who have believed in the Islamic teachings. Surah An-Nas Surah an-Nas and al-Falaq are together called Maudhatayn. Imam Jafar as-Sadiq (AS) said, whoever recites this surah in his house every night, will be kept safe from Jinn and the evil of Shaitan. Reciting the Maudhatayn before sleeping is a means of safety and if recited on any part of the body that is paining, the pain will be relieved. Surah Al-Falaq The Prophet (PBUH) used to seek refuge from the jinn as well as from the evil eye until Surah al Falaq and An Naas were revealed. When they were sent down, he utilized them and left other things. (Tirmidhi 1984 ) It is narrated by the Holy Prophet (PBUH) that whoever recites this Surah in the month of Ramadan in any of his prayers; it is as if he has fasted in Makah and he will get the reward for performing Hajj and Umrah. According to one riwaayah “Recite these two Surahs (Surah Falaq and Surah Nas) when you go to sleep and when ‘you wake up”. Surah Al-Kafiroun The Prophet (SAW) said, “Recite Surah Al- Kafiroon and then go to sleep after coming to its end, for it is a clearance from shirk”. (Abu Dawud 4396) If a person dies after reciting this Surah, it is as if he has died as a martyr. Recitation of this Surah before sleeping keeps one safe the whole night.
