The Guarneri model is the most commonly used chinrest in the world. This very comfortable medium height chinrest is the standard for today's violinist. This center mounted chinrest is 24 mm at the highest point. The arch underneath the chinrest has been carefully designed to clear peaked tailpieces, avoiding buzzes.  This elegant variation is designed for the weight conscious violinist, as it weighs in at 40 grams, approximately a 20% weight savings over the standard Guarneri chinrest. Figaro fine fittings are made only from the best sourced materials and finished by hand by craftsmen in a family owned business. The Ebony (Diospyros ebenum) is pure black, harvested in Sri Lanka or the Chotonagpur Plateau in India. Then it is aged to assure stability and quarter sawn before being made into the individual parts. The cork (Quercus suber) is the finest quality, fitted precisely to minimize acoustic interference and to maximize stability.
