I have learned through experience with various customers that Etsy opts for the USPS Priority Mail (1 – 3 days) when they compute the shipping charges for this item. Because of the size of the box I need to ship it in, it exceeds 22 inches in length, and is greater than 1 pound, a lesser expensive, but still good option for shipping is USPS Parcel Select Ground (2 – 9 days), which in most cases is at least half the cost of the rate for Priority Mail. Unless you tell me to do otherwise, I will choose the USPS Parcel Select Ground option for shipping, and will refund you the difference via the Etsy payment system on the day that I ship your order. In addition, combined shipping is available for additional orders made at the same time when safe to do so, and I will return any savings to you via Etsy’s payment system. Norman Rockwell (1894 – 1978), was one of America’s most beloved 20th Century American artists. His paintings and illustrations appealed to a wide audience and he created over 330 magazine covers for the “The Saturday Evening Post” magazine over a period of more than four decades. Rockwell left a timeless legacy of nostalgic, appealing, and lovable paintings that portray scenes from daily life. His work “seemed familiar because it was everyone’s dream of America; and it was unique because only Rockwell managed to bring it to life with such authority. This was perhaps, an America that never existed, and never could, but it was an America that the public wanted to exist. And Rockwell put it together from elements that were there for everyone to see, so that he was able to give it the look of documentary reality. He held up a friendly mirror to the society he lived in, and Americans have looked into this glass and seen themselves as warm, decent, hard-working citizens of a country bountiful enough to accommodate their boundless optimism. Rockwell helped preserve American myths, but, more than that, he recreated them and made them palatable for new generations. His function was to reassure people, to remind them of old values in times of rapid change.” Rockwell illustrated some children’s books when he was 16 years old, and was then hired to be the art director of “Boys’ Life,” the official publication of the Boy Scouts of America. Six years later, he sold his first cover to “The Saturday Evening Post.” Over the next 47 years, he created 321 covers for the “Post,” which became synonymous with his name. He later worked for “Look” magazine, addressing more serious issues of civil rights, poverty and space exploration. More photos of this matted print are available and can be shared upon request.
