O Katharina Sheet Music, 1924 Art Nouveau Print, Matted Wall Art

This is a 16 x 20 inch professionally done, custom triple-matted “O Katharina!” sheet music. The front cover features colorful Art Nouveau graphics. The amazing illustrations are in vibrant and bold colors, and the colors remain deep and true. It is created in a Mardi Gras style artwork. It was designed by Andrei Hudiakoff (1895 – 1985), who was a Russian immigrant. He developed new ways to change theater set designs quickly and efficiently. It would make a wonderful conversation piece. It is from the musical comedy, “Balieff’s Chauve Souris,” presented by F. Ray Comstock & Morris Gest. The sheet music lets us know that it was a Sensational European Success! It was coming direct from their Paris and London engagement. The revue was a big hit in the United States and Europe in the Roaring Twenties. It consisted of songs, dances and sketches. The show appeared on Broadway six times, with the last time in 1931. It is the complete song sheet (all pages are intact and attached) for “O Katharina!” This sheet music is copyrighted from 1924, so is almost 100 years old. This matted sheet music is in a hinged mat, backed by foam board, and is sitting in archival polyester picture corners. The music is set up to display as wall art, but it can be removed and played as well. The sheet music is entire and complete. The print is matted with quality, USA made mat board. It is attached with archival polypropylene mounting corners to quality foam board. The mat is hinged with linen hinging tape. This copy is in good vintage condition; the cover colors remain bright and lovely. The front cover has creases on the bottom left and right hand corners. There is a 7 inch crease diagonally across the right cover. The cover has some minor crinkles. The front cover has a tear and tape repair. The cover is separating at the bottom about 4 inches. The back cover was taped at the edge. All the pages of music are still attached. The edges of the front and back covers, as well as the edges of the pages have some small tears, discoloration, and small parts of the paper are missing. It shows signs of usage on the edges. The inside pages show some yellowing on the edges of the pages, and also have a patina of age to them. Fortunately most of the wear is located on the edges of the page and therefore can easily go unseen and hidden away behind the border of the framing mat. The contents are usable, but fragile.
