This wonderful hardcover book, THE YOUNG OUTLAW or Adrift in the Streets, by Horatio Alger, Jr., was published by John C. Winston Co., Philadelphia, It is copyright AK Loring 1875. I see no other publication dates, so believe this may be a first edition book, and is rare. Included in its pages are wonderful full color plate illustrations. It is 256 pages. It has an illustrated cover on the front and a decorative spine. This book is now over 150 years old and is amazing to find, especially in the condition it is in. The book does not have a dust jacket. It has full-cloth boards. This book measures 7 ½ inches x 5 ¼ inches x 1 inch. It has no odors. The inside pages are in great condition, clean and with no writing or notes and the binding is secure. The illustrated cover is in great condition, and shows only minor wear. The spine is in good condition, with minor wear on the edges of the spine. The inside hardcover front and back piece show minimal discoloration. The inside pages are not a crisp white, but have aged to more of a golden patina color. There are no tears on the pages. This is an antique/vintage book, and has been gently used. No other issues. I have done my best to describe it, but it is possible that a small defect could have escaped my notice.
