Description

This is a 14 x 18 inch professionally done, custom double-matted “Constantly,” sheet music from the Paramount picture, “ROAD TO MOROCCO,” copyright 1942. The front cover features Bob Hope, Dorothy Lamour and Bing Crosby dressed in costumes from the movie. The colors are still rich and vibrant. The picture received Academy Award nominations for Best Sound Recording (Loren Ryder) and Best Writing, Original Screenplay. “Road to Morocco” was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant". By owning this original sheet music you will own a piece of this all-time classic movie! This is the perfect collector's item for any vintage music lover, or someone who loves Old Hollywood. This movie was one of “the Road Pictures," as they are known. Great for home decor, office, music room, or home theater room! Words by Johnny Burke, Music by Jimmy Van Heusen. The movie starred Bing Crosby, Bob Hope, and Dorothy Lamour. The back cover lists other songs available from the music publisher (see photos). This matted sheet music will arrive to you ready to place into your standard-sized, 14 x 18 inch frame. The photos I’ve taken show how your print looks in the double mat, as it will reach you, and an example of how your matted print will look framed. This matted sheet music is in a hinged mat, backed by foam board, and is sitting in archival polyester picture corners. The music is set up to display as wall art, but it can be removed and played as well. The sheet music is entire and complete. The print is matted with quality, USA made mat board. It is attached with archival polypropylene mounting corners to quality foam board. The mat is hinged with linen hinging tape. • Mat dimensions: Width, 14 inches x Height, 18 inches • Sheet music dimensions: Width, 9 inches x Height, 12 inches • Mat color: Antique White (outer), and Black (inner) This is an ORIGINAL, vintage piece of sheet music, not a reprint or reproduction Since it is now over 75 years-old it is not in mint condition, and I will note here observations I see. This copy is in very good vintage condition; the cover colors remain bright and lovely. All the pages of music are still attached. There are slight crinkles and signs of usage on the front and back covers. The edges of the pages have some discoloration. The insides pages show slight yellowing on the edges of the pages, and also have a patina of age to them. Fortunately most of the wear is located on the edges of the page and therefore can easily go unseen and hidden away behind the border of the framing mat. The contents are usable. Please view the photos I have posted, as they will give you the best idea of how it looks. I have taken additional close-up photos of the cover and sheet music, and can share them with you upon request. • Title: “Constantly” • Words by Johnny Burke, Music by Jimmy Van Heusen • Condition: Very Good • Quantity available: 1 • Edition: First Edition • Binding: Paperback • Publisher: Paramount Music Corporation, New York, N.Y. • Place: USA • Date published: 1942, 5-page piece of sheet music “Road to Morocco” is a 1942 American comedy film starring Bing Crosby, Bob Hope and Dorothy Lamour, and featuring Anthony Quinn and Dona Drake. The film, which was written by Frank Butler and Don Hartman and directed by David Butler for Paramount Pictures, is the third of the "Road to …" films. It was preceded by “Road to Zanzibar” (1941) and followed by “Road to Utopia” (1946). The story is about two fast-talking guys castaway on a desert shore and sold into slavery to a beautiful princess. The setting is in Morocco during Spanish Rule. The film was placed at No. 4 in the list of top-grossing movies for 1942 in the USA. Bosley Crowther of The New York Times liked it: "Let us be thankful that Paramount is still blessed with Bing Crosby and Bob Hope, and that it has set its cameras to tailing these two irrepressible wags on another fantastic excursion, “Road to Morocco,” which came to the Paramount yesterday. For the screen, under present circumstances, can hold no more diverting lure than the prospect of Hope and Crosby ambling, as they have done before, through an utterly slaphappy picture, picking up Dorothy Lamour along the way and tossing acid wisecracks at each other without a thought for reason or sense...The short of it is that “Road to Morocco” is a daffy, laugh-drafting film. And you’ll certainly agree with the camel which, at one point, offers the gratuitous remark, “This is the screwiest picture I was ever in.” Variety commented: "Crosby, Hope and Lamour have done it again. Their click in “Road to Singapore” and “Road to Zanzibar” is eclipsed by “Road to Morocco.” Crosby, of course, is still more or less straightens for Hope’s incessantly steaming gags. The two have never teamed better, nor have they, seemingly, romped with such abandon." The songs included: • "(We're Off on the) Road to Morocco", sung by Bing Crosby and Bob Hope • "Ain't Got a Dime to My Name", sung by Bing Crosby • "Constantly", sung by Dorothy Lamour • "Moonlight Becomes You", sung by Bing Crosby, and later by Lamour, Hope, and Crosby All lyrics to all songs are by Johnny Burke to music by Jimmy Van Heusen. Bing Crosby recorded a number of the songs for Decca Records. "Moonlight Becomes You" topped the Billboard charts for two weeks during a 17-week stay in the lists. "Constantly" and "(We're Off on the) Road to Morocco" also charted briefly. Crosby's songs were also included in the Bing's Hollywood series. The picture received Academy Award nominations for Best Sound Recording (Loren Ryder) and Best Writing, Original Screenplay. In 1996, “Road to Morocco” was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant". The film is recognized by American Film Institute in these lists: • 1998: AFI's 100 Years...100 Movies – Nominated • 2000: AFI's 100 Years...100 Laughs – #78 • 2004: AFI's 100 Years...100 Songs: • "(We're Off on the) Road to Morocco" – #95 • "Moonlight Becomes You" – Nominated • 2007: AFI's 100 Years...100 Movies (10th Anniversary Edition) – Nominated More photos of this matted sheet music are available and can be shared upon request.
